Storybook Garden Update

What was once a vision in early 2017 has now become a wonderful reality as the Wharton Garden moves forward in combining our love for horticulture and children’s literacy into one beautiful place to visit. The Wharton Memorial Foundation Board is excited to announce the completion of the “The Three Bears” Vignette, the “Turtle” Vignette, the “Crawl Log”,  the “Storybook” Reading Walk, the “Pergola and Performance Stage” and the “Pollinator Garden”.

The next phase of the project, the “Alice in Wonderland” Vignette, is well underway with the “Mushrooms” and “Chess and Checkerboard” already installed and more to come in 2020.

The Wharton Memorial Foundation Board wishes to acknowledge and thank the following Grantors for their belief in our visions and support for these projects:

  • Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation
  • Weyerhaeuser
  • Nora Roberts Foundation
  • Easley Foundation
  • Robert F. Schumann Foundation
  • Town of Bedford
